Picasso, Pixar and a Free Saturday: How Downtown Miami's Museum Park Fills Up This Fall

  • October 8, 2026

PAMM's three fall exhibitions all open on a Thursday, and PAMM is free every Thursday after 5 p.m. Frost Science opens its largest family exhibition of the season on the same Saturday that PAMM, its neighbor across the plaza, offers free admission all day. If you live within a Metromover ride of 1103 Biscayne Boulevard, the season's biggest openings cost very little. Most of the planning goes into the arena next door.

The dates below run from October 8 to December 6. They are grouped by the decision each one forces: when to go, how to get there, and where the evening ends.

Saturday, October 10, Is the Day Both Buildings Line Up

Frost Science opens The Science Behind Pixar to the public on Saturday, October 10, and it stays through April 11, 2027 in the Hsiao Family Special Exhibition Gallery on the museum's first floor. The exhibition was developed by the Museum of Science, Boston with Pixar Animation Studios. It includes recreations of Buzz Lightyear, Dory, Mike and Sulley, Edna Mode and WALL•E. It costs nothing extra. Admission is included with every museum ticket, and Explorer tickets start at $29.95 for adults and $24.95 for ages 4 to 11.

The same day, PAMM holds its Free Second Saturday. Admission is free all day, with activities from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Two days earlier, on Thursday, October 8, PAMM opens Anina Major: The Sacred Mangrove. It is the Bahamian-born artist's first solo presentation at a major institution: an installation of woven clay sculptures, bottle trees and a path of crushed conch shells. That means the Saturday shows both new things in Museum Park, Pixar at Frost and the mangrove at PAMM, with only one paid ticket.

Frost recommends buying tickets in advance. Planetarium reservations are made on the day of the visit, first come, first served, so a morning arrival keeps that option open.

PAMM's Openings All Fall on Its Free Night

PAMM is open until 9 p.m. on Thursdays, and admission is free after 5 p.m. every Thursday, not only the first of the month. All three fall exhibitions open on a Thursday.

Exhibition Opens Day Runs through
Anina Major: The Sacred Mangrove October 8, 2026 Thursday August 1, 2027
Picasso–Klee–Matisse: Masterpieces from the Museum Berggruen October 29, 2026 Thursday February 28, 2027
Zoë Buckman: Show Me Your Bruises, Then November 5, 2026 Thursday May 2027

Picasso–Klee–Matisse is the season's anchor. It brings nearly 100 works from the Museum Berggruen in Berlin and the Berggruen family collection, with additions from PAMM's own holdings. It is also the first time PAMM has given its largest galleries entirely to modern art. The exhibition page lists no separate timed-entry rule or surcharge, and the ticket page lists standard admission. Even so, check PAMM's visit page before opening night. Tickets are limited by capacity and can sell out, and none are sold in the last 30 minutes before closing.

October 29 also matters for a second show. Cecilia Vicuña: Quipu Gut runs through Sunday, November 1, so the Picasso opening night is its last free Thursday. Basquiat: Figures, Signs, Symbols and John Baldessari: The End of the Line both stay through the season. PAMM lists different closing dates for each in its press release and on its exhibitions page, but both run well into 2027.

Frost does not advertise regular late hours. Its posted schedule is 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on most weekdays and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends. If you want one evening that covers both buildings, start at Frost in the afternoon and walk to PAMM at 5.

The Arena Next Door Has a Busier Calendar

Museum Park shares its block of Biscayne Boulevard with Kaseya Center and sits a short walk from Bayfront Park. Those calendars decide how full the streets and garages are on any given night. Several fall dates overlap with museum dates:

  • Saturday, October 17. The Bayfront Park Shoreline Cleanup runs 8 to 10 a.m. at 301 Biscayne Boulevard, and iHeartRadio Fiesta Latina 2026 plays Kaseya Center that evening.
  • Wednesday, October 21. The Miami HEAT host the Minnesota Timberwolves in their regular-season home opener.
  • Thursday, October 29. On Picasso's opening night, VOUS Man Alive 2026 runs 7 to 10 p.m. at the FPL Amphitheater in Bayfront Park.
  • Saturday, October 31. Red Bull Flugtag Miami runs 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Bayfront Park, and the listing says it is free.
  • Wednesday, November 11. Doja Cat brings the Ma Vie World Tour to Kaseya Center.
  • November 20 and 21. John Summit plays Kaseya Center on the same Friday and Saturday as the Miami Book Fair Street Fair.
  • December 5 and 6. RAWAYANA plays Kaseya Center during the last weekend of Art Miami.

Kaseya Center says the lots that used to surround the arena have been permanently eliminated. It sells only a limited number of P2 garage passes online for individual games, first come, first served. Event venues and the museums now share the same pool of parking.

Getting There Without the Garage

The museum garage that serves Frost and PAMM charges an $18 flat rate, has limited space and takes only credit cards. PAMM members park for $11, and the $80 Individual membership also includes unlimited admission and 10% off at Verde. Frost lists the Omni garage at 1645 Biscayne Boulevard at $8 for two hours, though rates may change. PAMM also points to public parking in Maurice A. Ferré Park, which it says is cash only. No official page says how the museum garage handles arena nights, so on HEAT and concert dates the Omni garage or the train is the more predictable choice.

For most Downtown residents, the Metromover is easier. Frost says its entrance is steps from the Museum Park station on the Omni Loop. Miami-Dade County describes the Metromover as free, running seven days a week from 5:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., with trains every 90 seconds at rush hour and every three minutes otherwise. Kaseya Center's directions page gives later hours after events. Check the county's same-day service alerts before you count on a late ride home after a 9 p.m. close at PAMM. Brightline's MiamiCentral station at 600 NW First Avenue connects to Metromover, Metrorail and the Miami Trolley, which helps if you have guests coming from Broward or Palm Beach.

Where the Evening Ends

Both museums have food on site. Verde and the Verde Bistro Bar at PAMM keep separate posted hours, so check before planning a late Thursday dinner there. At Frost, Constellation Culinary Group runs Food@Science and Coffee@Science under Regional Executive Chef Aaron Janus. The coffee counter opens at 10 a.m. and the café at 11 a.m.

Miami Worldcenter, a few blocks southwest, has added several dinner options in the past two years. The Miami Herald reported that Maple & Ash would open at 699 NE First Avenue on March 13, 2025. Earls Kitchen + Bar at 150 NE Eighth Street held its grand opening in April 2025. Serafina opened at 652 NE Second Avenue in May 2025. Café Laurel, at 698 NE First Avenue, is a lighter option for before or after a museum visit. Worldcenter's directory also lists Feels and KOBS Organic Market & Kitchen as "Coming Soon," with no opening dates yet.

November and December Extend the Season Outward

After Thanksgiving, the busy stretch moves to two venues a few blocks from Museum Park. The Miami Book Fair runs November 15 to 22. Its Street Fair takes over Miami Dade College's Wolfson Campus at 300 NE Second Avenue from Friday, November 20, through Sunday, November 22. Two weeks later, Art Miami and CONTEXT Art Miami fill the pavilions at One Herald Plaza, at NE 14th Street and the bay, from December 1 to 6. The Miami Art Week schedule also lists a Miami Media Festival at Frost on Saturday, December 5, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., but marks it tentative.

The waterfront route will not change this year. The planned I-395 Baywalk pedestrian bridge got the City's preferred-design approval on March 12, 2026, but no construction timeline has been published. The walk from Museum Park to One Herald Plaza follows Biscayne Boulevard, as it does now.

Living a Metromover stop from Museum Park adds to the value of a Downtown condo, because it puts you minutes from openings like Picasso and Pixar.
